Coigach: Achiltibuie, Stac Polly & The Summer Isles

Guided Walks, Tours, Boat Trips & Wildlife Watching

An ideal way to discover the Geopark and learn more about its fascinating geological, cultural and social history is to take part in a guided walk, tour or sea cruise. Catch the ferry just north of the village of Scourie and sail to a remarkable island where 200,000 seabirds come to breed. Guillemots, razorbills, puffins and great skuas fill the skies above Torridonian sandstone cliffs. It is advisable to contact the operator first as many tours are weather dependant and some only operate during the summer season.

The diversity of wildlife within the Geopark is breathtaking. Animals, sea creatures and birds you may see around the area include:

  • badger, stoat, weasel, pine marten, fox, otter, hare, red deer, roe deer
  • whale species, porpoise, seal, basking shark, dolphin
  • golden eagle, peregrine falcon, osprey, heron, willow warbler, wren, redpoll, redwing, sandpiper, oystercatcher, black-throated diver

To find out where best to view different species, contact your local Highland Council Countryside Ranger or Tourist Information Centre.
